Saturday February 21st was TKO's Magic Mystery trail project at Angels Rest in the gorge. I had the privilege of leading this work party with the help of Roberta of course. We had a total of 14 people, which is a good sign of TKO's continued success in drumming up volunteers with which none of these projects would be possible.
Saturday was dry, windy and cold and everyone still got muddy and wet, at one point it was turning into a competition. We did lots of work repairing culverts, cleaning out and lengthening wing ditches and lots of tread work. Everyone had a blast including my sons dinosaur who managed to put in a few hours himself. With that being said I'll let everyone else post there photos and comments.
Thanks again for everyone who came out and I hope to see you on the next one.

Re: TKO Magic Mystery Trail - Culvert Action
I went to Angel's Rest yesterday as my first short hike after I got better from a cold.
And I noticed the changes of the trail. It was maintained so well. Thank you very much for all to take care of the trail so nice! Hope to join the TKO events sometime this year.

Nice work, and I see some familiar faces. I'm curious to see the results in person.

Hey everyone,
This was a fine work party. We got good and muddy and we accomplished a lot. That broken culvert bothered me and I'm glad we replaced it and re-buried the others that were exposed. And any time we get to use the come-along for good is a bonus. Here are some photos from Ruth and me.
Here's "Hanna Montana Dana" (makes you want to pronounce her name Danna but maybe that's a good new name) showcasing her snazzy chain saw accessory bag. Here's the hole in the trail that Pete fixed. Thanks Pete! The picture doesn't do the hole justice. It was about 5 foot wide and maybe knee deep a the root side. Hope to see many volunteers at the next Magical Mystery Trails date March 14.

Once the trail maintenance is completed, doesn't this thread legitimately belong in trip reports? Isn't "Trail Rx" a place to report trails in need of attention, not trails already fixed? Just curious....

Grannyhiker I will check with Jeff, thanks!

Actually, I just check with Jeff on this yesterday, Grannyhiker -- we thought the TKO reports would get lost in the trip report section, especially when hiking season heats up and reports start to roll in at a furious rate. So, the Rx is defined not only as a place to report trail issues, but also to report on how they've been resolved, and celebrate the volunteers and agency staff who did the work.
