You can just right click on the image and copy the image url and embed it without that service

That only works if the pic is in an album and you set the album sharing on. Once you do that, you don't need to create a shared link for each pic individually. Otherwise they don't show up for other users.

Google photos is a pain for this, Picasa web album was so much better.

Google Photos sure is a PITA. The Internet says "We've decided to retire Picasa in order to focus on a single photo service in Google Photos". :x I'll look for some other free service for getting pictures into TRs. Flickr no longer has unlimited free storage, and I'm maxed out there.

That's an OSM basemap with a National Hydrography Dataset shapefile in QGIS.
I once had the idea of adding it to OSM in Oregon and southern Washington but it proved more time than I was willing to put into it.

Well we're all responsible for our own privacy settings and since many Google Photos are synced automatically it makes sense to have to specifically make a shared album if you want to share it.

Let us know what you find! I bit the bullet and paid for the first year of Flickr when they moved away from unlimited free storage. I'll see how I feel after that year is up.

Really the unlimited free storage model was too good to be true and I'm surprised Flickr had it for as long as they did. Google Photos doesn't cut it for me and I haven't found any good alternatives.
