It took me awhile to figure this out (including the obscure location of the flash enabling switch in the admin settings!), but here's how to embed a YouTube video on the PortlandHikers.org forum:
That should work for you! Note that I've scaled a screen shot of the code so that you can actually see it -- but it's also sized for small monitors, so apologies for small text. Let me know if it's impossible to see, and I'll post a larger view. Good luck!

Re: Embedding YouTube Video using BB Codes
Hi Tom,
Was excited to see this but when I tried it I get this error message:
You cannot use certain BBCodes: [flash].
Maybe it's a permissions thing?
Cheers.

Re: Embedding YouTube Video using BB Codes
Hmm.... well, I've enabled flash globally, so that shouldn't be the problem. Go ahead and edit that post, then look to see if BBcode is "on" and [flash] is "on" over on the left side of your edit screen. If not, let me know, and I'll take another look at the admin settings. It's also possible that you've got "disable BBCode" checked on your post, but if you're getting that message, I doubt it.
Let me know how it goes, Guy.

Hmm.... just took another look at the admin settings, and it should be working for you, Guy.

Tom, checked all my settings & everything seems to be turned on that should be on but when I begin a new report it shows that Flash is still off:
Thanks.
We can wait to see if others are having the same problem.
Thanks.

Re: Embedding YouTube Video using BB Codes
Apparently you can adjust the frame size. If you mouse over the Flash button it has instructions.

Re: Embedding YouTube Video using BB Codes
I'm having trouble embedding my youtube video. Followed instructions, see the attachment for what I get. Any help?
Re: Embedding YouTube Video using BB Codes
Check out the videos that we've posted in the 'what are you listening to' thread in 'IDLE CHATTER' - here's a quote from that thread where I explained the process for posting youtube videos:weekend_warrior wrote:I'm having trouble embedding my youtube video. Crusak wrote:In case any of you want to start posting your video links in playabe youtube windows... here's the description of how to get the embed code to work on this forum.
Like this -Crusak wrote:Here's the scoop:
You need to put the info in this format-
Click 'share' and 'embed' in youtube - be sure to check the box marked 'use old embed code'Code: Select all
[flash=640,510]http://www.youtube.com/v/VV6zk7iQU4o?version=3&hl=en_US;&rel=0[/flash]
The raw embed code from youtube looks like this:
<object width="640" height="510"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VV6zk7iQU4o?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VV6zk7iQU4o?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="510" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
Copy/paste the embed code, but only use the part I've highlighted in red text. That code goes between the 'Flash' tags, as I demonstrated above.
I added the '&rel=0' on the end, to remove the option for 'related videos' that shows in the video window after it plays.
Does my description make sense?
