Spam Control

Post by Webfoot » August 27th, 2018, 3:22 am

For the third time this week the Gear Discussion has been spammed by a Korean-language bot doing spamdexing. This should not be possible. There need to be controls in place to limit the number of posts made by a new account, and to throttle their rate. There should be automatic detection of such events and automatic IP-block-bans temporarily raised.

If when a moderator bans someone, it also deleted all their posts, that would be a big help

In a prior software version there was a button "oc ban" that did that

Good news- the main extension we used to block spammers is now supported in 3.2, so it has been enabled.
