Server Issues

Sorry if you have experienced server issues. We are testing out a higher performance server instance, which I'm hoping will resolve the problems.

Yes, thank you. I have had a few off line episodes but they didn't last very long.

Is this change related to the (new?) &sid parameter in unread links (those you get from the "Unread Posts" page)? Never noticed that before, and wondering if/how that will impact sharing a link with someone. Guessing the sid is tied to a specific user, so the shared link will take the other person to the spot where the first person quit reading? Or might even allow someone to see/alter what the site believes someone else has read?

I don't think that is new.

Weird. Not there, now. First, and only, time I've seen it was on one page of Unreads this morning.

&sid query string shouldn't be there... Sometimes they'll appear if you're doing admin/moderator tasks, or on the first link clicked as a guest

The Session ID parameter is sometimes there, sometimes not, and it's always been like that. But it's certainly not going to cause the server to crash. :)

Ahhh, session ID... I was guessing it might be related to the user more directly than that, thus exposing a security issue of sorts. No worries in this case. Hadn't noticed it before.

Never thought it might be related to server crashes; just that it might have been mistakenly included while reconfiguring a new server.
