Links broken, history lost

Post by klossner » February 22nd, 2015, 11:50 am

Many of the links in e.g. the Sherrard Point page from the Field Guide are broken. Under Trip Reports, the link Larch Mountain Loop - 7/25/06 goes to the empty .com site, as does the link Gorge Guess (6/12/06) under Related Discussions. If I change .com to .org, these links forward to a 404 error page on oregonhikers.org.

It would be a shame to lose all that history.

It seems that the old threads are available using URLs like this: http://www.oregonhikers.org/archive/vie ... EAD_NUMBER]

So the Larch Mountain Loop you're looking for is: http://www.oregonhikers.org/archive/view/3419

It didn't work for "Gorge Guess" though. Hmm....

We only archived the trip report forum. This happened several years ago when we switched forum software. The Gorge Guess thread is probably from the Q&A forum. If you find any other links to portlandhikers.com please let us know so that a field guide editor can update them.

"Several years ago" is almost 7 years now. The switch took place May 28, 2008, which is why many of us show up as "joining" the forum on that date.

The trip reports that were saved in the archive are, by now, pretty out of date, and many have lost their photo links.
