Embedding Vimeo Videos?

Post by kepPNW » May 5th, 2013, 5:54 am

Might there be any possibility of adding an option to embed videos from Vimeo in posts here?

They seem to be far less problematic over issues of fair use and don't embed their own advertising either.

Thanks!

Just installed a "Video" BBCode which should allow you to post Vimeo, Youtube and other videos.

Sweet! Folks will love that! Only possible reason not to might be the lack of control for output size? Does that one support any parameters, like the [Flash] tags did, or would that old option still be best if someone wanted to do that?

Testing... 1. 2. 3...

Thanks, Dan! Really appreciate this. :)

Hmmmm, in both your post and mine, I see that "View on Vimeo" link (that they're apparently injecting) 404's. That's sort of an oddity, huh?

EDIT 1: Okay, odder still, it only 404's the first time I clicked either link. Subsequent clicks worked. Maybe a Firefox issue...

EDIT 2: I love that the little "Vimeo" and "YouTube" links (at the lower-right corner of the vids) actually open a new tab and take you to the original now!!! That never worked with the old Flash tags. :D

Thanks Dan,

Is there a way we could get videos hosted on Smugmug to work?

As an example here is what there embed video links look like:
<iframe frameborder="0" scrolling="no" width="640" height="360" src="http://api.smugmug.com/services/embed/2 ... "></iframe>

This works in Blogger for example but doesn't seem to work here.

If you don't mind pulling out the URL, you can do a smugmug video like this:

Code: Select all

[video]http://api.smugmug.com/services/embed/2470106532_QmTCDDd[/video]
http://api.smugmug.com/services/embed/2 ... 32_QmTCDDd
