Funny links to PhotoBucket images

Post by kepPNW » August 27th, 2012, 10:24 pm

I've seen something really odd here. Say I put this code into a post:

Code: Select all

[url=http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w494/kepPNW/hk20120825-MississippiHead/20120825_pan04x.jpg][img]http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w494/kepPNW/hk20120825-MississippiHead/sm/20120825_pan04x1_thumb.jpg[/img][/url]
When the photo is clicked, it ought to go straight to the JPG referenced in the enclosing URL tag, right? But instead, it goes here:

http://www.gophoto.it/view.php?i=http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w494/kepPNW/hk20120825-MississippiHead/20120825_pan04x.jpg

Example:

Where is that gophoto.it/view.php page (red text in link above) coming into the picture? I don't see it in the generated HTML, here. I really hate to say it, but the problem doesn't seem apparent in IE9. I'm currently seeing it in Chrome and Firefox only. :(

Found the problem! I was going to just delete the post, but thought others may be seeing it too, sooo...

Somehow, and I haven't any idea how exactly, both Chrome and Firefox had acquired a new extension that I was totally unfamiliar with. It went by the name "1Click Downloader 1.5". After disabling that, the photo links work just fine. Jeeeeeez... :oops:

Photobucket's links just changed again for me. No longer can I click on the appropriate image link URL and it automatically copy it. It's now a pain using Chrome to do a trip report with photobucket. I hope for historical trip report sake that photobucket doesn't disappear and render those reports useless

I keep pondering whether I ought to find another option, before that happens, or wait for the inevitable slide into oblivion they seem to be on, yeah... :x

No problem with the version of Opera I'm using... 12.15, in case that turns out to be important.

Thanks, raven. I hate to say, but the original problem was most like a "user error" of some sort. More recent problems on PhotoBucket are, they swear, "by design."
