I'm not sure how editors actually create "hikes" with their associate "trail logs", but for trip planning it would be great to be able to setup custom trail log routes or at a minimum be able to just lookup a trail with all the mileage/elevation information for directly. I can see portions of trails via hikes, but that is not very affective for exploring new options.
Do you know if there is a way for a normal member to access the trail log database? Is there any other way to access trail logs?

Trail logs are manually created - no data base that they're drawn from
If there's any consistency between hikes, it's because a human made it so

Bummer. Being a software engineer that's the way I think. Thank you for replying... and maybe I'll try setting some kind of database up in the future.

Being a software engineer I know what you mean
I don't like having multiple "sources" than can drift into inconsistency over time.

Re: Access to "Trail Log" data
Jerry's correct. the logs are all manual work.
On the plus side there are several areas with log pages all in one place.
Search the Field Guide for "Trails" and you'll get a list.
