IP Address Blacklisted

I got a message my IP address is blacklisted when I tried to post.

I used a VPN to get around that but I'm not sure this is a good security measure as it's implemented since I'm with Century Link and have a dynamic IP I have no control over (other than I know how and why to use a VPN).

I just had the same thing happen to me, at a friend's house, using Comcast.

But then it gets weirder: I used a VPN to switch to a Canadian IP address to get around the block and post successfully. And now, when I tried to post THIS message, the Canadian IP address was blocked, even though it worked a minute ago! So I had to switch to a different VPN location.

I was blacklisted on one browser (Safari) but was able to post using Firefox. The next day, my Safari connections were fine.

It makes me wonder whether maybe these IP addresses aren't really blocked at all, but the OH server is just having trouble communicating with the spam-checking service.

Seems likely. I got the same error yesterday four or five times before my post went through. I just saved a draft and kept trying to submit the post. It went through (same computer, same connection, same browser) after occasional attempts over 6 hours.

We turned off a setting to hopefully make these go away.

Thanks Martell for working on the blacklist and 504 issues. Hopefully things will improve.
