Oneonta open

Post by squidvicious » December 27th, 2021, 12:40 pm

Oneonta trail #424 has been reopened along the full length for a few weeks. The associated hikes in the FG have not been updated and still say closed (think that's just Triple Falls and Larch Mtn via Oneonta?)

I just re-opened them in the wiki. (And on OpenStreetMap.)

How many people will see that title and think that Oneonta GORGE is open? ;)

Also, Buck Point and Wauna Viewpoint trails reopened. I'm surprised they didn't reopen Bell Creek since that was mostly undamaged by the fire and is reported to be in decent shape, but there may be work to do on the Horsetail Creek Trail part of the loop . . .

USFS page says "Wauna Viewpoint Trail (#402)" is Closed. However this page says it is open. Confusing.

I hiked Wauna today so it is definitely open. However, there is a slide a couple hundred feet from the top that could be daunting for some. Also, spikes are definitely needed for some steep snow-covered traverses. The rest is a piece of cake.

What a coincidence; I did too! But I have a feeling you already knew that. ;) The slide area felt frozen and firm; in this condition it was easier than the snow I thought, though I wouldn't want to be there in the rain.

So that was you we passed as we were coming back down! I thought so, but wasn't sure it was you dressed up in your winter garb.

I didn't want to act overly familiar.
