Time spent hiking will not be deducted from your life.

Great article. If you click on the map you can click on each incident and read a report of what happened. Fascinating! Though every land rescue I read about in Alaska was result of a snowmobile breaking down :)

Interesting stats on the type of rescues.

Is it me, or do the water and snowmobile rescues not get the type of news coverage that lost hikers get? There are a lot more of those than lost hikers.
