What are these Birds?

Post by Guy » February 28th, 2022, 7:27 am

Could someone tell me what kind of birds these are. Red or red / orange flecks on some of them. What drew my attention was the sounds they were making were very distinctive and I don't recall hearing them before.
Thanks.

Red-winged blackbirds - common in almost any wetland area. Very vocal.

and they are all males
The females not only lack the red shoulder, they also lack the black color (think super-sized sparrow)

And most of them are juveniles - they get their full red shoulder patches in another year.
