mystery industrial part

Cleaning house today, ran across this thing I found on Mt Hood. Keep meaning to post it here. I don't recall where I found it, but it was very remote, nowhere near developed areas. Above timberline.

Based on my experience, the only wild guess is that it could be a prox sensor. Whatever it is, weird place to find it. In fact, I wouldn't really care what it was if I found it near a skilift.

I really do. That car on Cook Hill, the plane wreckage on Shellrock, myriad balloons as high as 8000'. Oh, and weather balloons, three times. Probably more stuff that I can't recall.
