three misc finds

The first one had a label, so I was able to research it. Just for fun, let's see who can ID it.

Don't let the setting on the second item distract you. I put it in my pocket and snapped a pic at a rest spot.

Third item is just an ordinary rubber band, but I found a large quantity scattered over a large area. Unlikely one person dropped them all. So I know what it is, I just don't know why it is. Setting was National Forest (Fed Reserve note is just a size reference.)

That's a TV-dinner-tray modern art improvisation piece.

The first one looks like the housing for a temperature sensor.

I have zero ideas about the second one.

My only thought on the third one is the rubber bands were used in collecting something like beargrass. I've seen them in areas where that is common.

Hmm, #1 does look a bit like stacked trays. Bob was pretty close though. It's a solar radiation shield, "recommended for temperature and relative humidity measurement accuracy in locations exposed to direct or reflected solar radiation".

The rubber bands were found in a beargrass zone. Maybe not exclusively, but I remember my pic was at [redacted, see below].

Jerry, if you promise to go pick up all the rubber bands you dropped, you can have your note back. Bosterson and I will conduct the inspection after the snow melts out.

I have found rubber bands in national forests before, usually a couple dozen scattered around in one area like a bag of them was dropped and forgotten. I've been told it's from beargrass harvesters. I can imagine the rubber bands cause all sorts of harm to wildlife, so it really makes me angry when I see them left out there.
