Yet another flower question

Post by derwoodynck » February 29th, 2020, 11:13 am

Here's one from July 26, 2017 near Little Castle Lake in the Castle Crag Wilderness. I can seem to find anything on the wildflower sites that looks like it to me.

Weird, I've never seen anything like that. The only thing that comes close is hardhack (Douglas' spirea), but it has much denser inflorescences. I guess it could be a mutant hardhack with loose clusters? At least the leaves match.

Well that makes me feel better for not being able to come up with anything. Hardhack was as close as I could come too, right spot for it near the lake shore.

Yes, hardhack for sure - just not fully bloomed like we're used to seeing it.
