botanical starfish

Saw tons of these on Shellrock Mtn. I don't recall seeing anything like this before.

I asked about those about 6 yrs ago, and Bobcat answered:
Your cool fungus is an earth star (Geastrum sp.). The spore sack has exploded, so it's been there a while.
