The purpose of this forum is to help people identify things they've seen while out hiking: wildflowers, trees, birds, insects, small animals, animal tracks, even geographical features like buttes or streams

Neat info, Cat! These tracks were half-melted but definitely the size of bobcat. They were spaced in such a way that it looked like the animal was moving in a trot or quicker. The light sucked for photos, sorry, and I loathe using a flash on snow pics.

Peder, that green snake is gorgeous! Sometimes the colors of nature almost defy reality.

Climbing trees or overhangs without any limbs is impressive, those snakes really defy gravity! Colors can be impressive too: When the light is right, your (Anna’s) hummingbirds make a fantastic spectacle in front of my window! Those males really have incandescent head colors...
Some people are really fit at eighty; thankfully I still have many years to get into shape…

I always thought it fitting that my hummingbirds wear my favorite color!

Herbie's unbeaten streak continues! Too bad he can only lose once. I've not had the chance to witness such an event.

Do you ever listen to Radio Lab on NPR? There's a similar tale in their Zoo episode.

Fun write up, thanks for taking the time to share.
