What waterfall is this?

The purpose of this forum is to help people identify things they've seen while out hiking: wildflowers, trees, birds, insects, small animals, animal tracks, even geographical features like buttes or streams

What waterfall is this?

Post by anna in boots » January 22nd, 2009, 11:47 am

While doing a search on Frog Lake, I saw the photograph at the middle of this page, supposedly advertising Multnomah Falls. If that's Multnomah, I'm a Cover Girl model.

HikerCentral.com is one of those idiotic, autodriven outdoor sites that have popped up. All of their content is generated by bots and there are always huge inaccuracies built around a bunch of drivel.

From thier page on "St Helens Way":
If only every site had this much outdoors exciting things, what a great planet it would be. Camping at Beaver Bay Campground is always a brilliant experience, and a spree to Loowit Falls will fill your soul with good feelings. Swift Creek flows through this vicinity; Sugar Bowl is a pleasant location to stretch your legs a bit. Nearby The Breach is a great place to go if you're at Saint Helens Way, and paddling on Muddy River is so much fun.

A page on a local RV park:
An afternoon playing golf at Portland Meadows Golf Course is always a pleasure, and while you're here you have to stop at Hayden Bay. This campground is a great location to take a look at. The nice folks of Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton like to hang out nearby, and a striking lake like City of Portland Reservoir Number 3 is a splendid spot to have a look at.

Another connected page is goingoutdoors.com. Here's their page on the Tanner Butte Trail:
You might want to pay a visit to Gold Dust Rock if you're here at Tanner Butte Trail, and there's whitewater on Sandy River for all you thrill seekers. Getting to Tish Creek from Tanner Butte Trail is trouble-free, and a pleasant trip to Latourell Prairie is a delightful way to spend an afternoon. Some of the water close by flows, like Sorenson Creek, and a tour to Tanner Spring will fill your soul with perfect feelings.

Ugh!

Thanks, Adam and Steve. I can't remember if I've ever seen Wahclella Falls before. If I did, it was years ago when I first got here and saw a whole bunch of falls all at once, filing them all together in my cerebellum under "purdy water." I need to go back and absorb them individually on some sleepy-warm weekday in the summertime.

Agreed, Wahclella falls without a doubt. Anna, we've met and I thought you were a cover girl!

Ha! - Anna, none when we met - and only one by the end of the evening, a rather mild Chardonnay at that. So there you go - you now have a new rep as a Cover Girl!

I'll parlay that into a gig at Revlon, they're cruelty-free.
