Mt Hood mystery #47...

The purpose of this forum is to help people identify things they've seen while out hiking: wildflowers, trees, birds, insects, small animals, animal tracks, even geographical features like buttes or streams

Still no solution, but here's a Google Earth file (none of the available aerial views shows the "47" clearly, but June 2005 comes closest): Hood_47.kmz

Also, I think the "77" views are actually something like "47 7":

Actually Adam, your detail photo from 2009 makes me think its not a shadow but a real part of the rocks.... a permanent feature of the mountain, that will be there on years it melts out.
lightweight, cheap, strong... pick 2

The 7's might be real, but I'm pretty sure the 4 is a shadow.

Here's a picture I took of Mt. Hood today from the Wahtum Lake area.
Is this the same 4 on the right (west) side of the mountain?
I think it's a little higher up on the mountain than the ones in the previous images, but I'm not certain.

Too far away? Not enough resolution? I see Illumination Rock but I don't see that cliff, maybe lower right?

This is the better one of the two pictures I took. I was zoomed in a ways when I took it on my phone. Next time I'm in the area I will remember to bring a better camera.
Upon looking back through the thread, I don't think this is the same area as the others. (I'm not all that familiar with the west side of the mountain)
