More fireworks in the national forest yesterday

Post by pcg » October 3rd, 2017, 8:14 am

Gotcha! These are legal!
Anyone else notice how intense the vine maple display is this year? I couldn't help but pull over and spend an hour getting some shots off of Hwy 22 yesterday, just north of Hwy 20. If you drive down Lava Flats Rd. you can hike in a hundred yards and then out onto the lava - a safer and quieter location than parking along Hwy 22.

Yeah! I saw them from the car on 26 south of Hood, driving back from Smith this past weekend. Sudden pops of super bright red color, when nothing else seems to have really turned yet. It's quite stunning.
