I intend to use this device on all my hiking and backpacking trips this summer; it's more convenient than carrying your camera in a pouch or backpack and more comfortable than carrying it on a strap around your neck.

I purchased one of these too about 18 months ago. I use it when I might be doing a lot off bending over or scrambling to prevent the camera from swinging around.

If just trail hiking though I've taken to clipping the camera strap into a caribena that's high on my left side pack strap then it just hands comfortably to one side.

I had thought about one of these, but my main concern was trail dust being kicked up during the summer.
I have used a MindShift Gear Ultralight Camera Cover 20 for over a year now and love it.
The waist band sits just above the waist belt on my backpack and I loop the camera strap around my pack's sternum strap.
The only drawback I have seen with this item using different camera setup's is that you need a nice lens for loop cord to snug around. If you have a pancake lens there is really nothing for the loop to wrap around.
It keeps the camera out of dust and rain, and is easy to get to, plus it is a padded storage for the camera when you set up camp.
