Soloshot Motion Timelapse Hardware

Post by flixter » May 31st, 2015, 12:49 pm

So the question is what are the differing opions on this
timelapse hardware. Here is the Youtube web link to
the Motion Timelapse Tutorial, approx 10 minutes but worth
the education.

$650 for tripod, camcorder, and the base that can pan around and keep you centered

pretty cool

The cheap version would be using a camalapse and Magic Lantern.

It would only work with faster shutter speeds because the base is constantly turning.

with cheap stepper motors these days, it seems like a perfect arduino project w/ magic lantern if you're on a budget, there's already multiple options out there where all the hard work is done, you just need the pieces and to build it. OpenMoCo is one to keep an eye on http://motionsick.org/

There's also the Radian 2, which recently went live on Kickstarter:

Here's a recent video using the original Radian:

There was something on OPB, Oregon Field Guide maybe, where they had photography like that. Except they had tracks that the camera slowly moved on taking time lapse pictures as it went. I think that was custom built, not a product. It included duct tape :)
