Suggestions for photo opportunities East of Mt. Hood

Post by Globaltrekker » July 30th, 2013, 12:04 pm

I am planning a trip to Mt. Hood area in Sept (early part). Having never previously had the opportunity to travel much further East than Hood and the immediate surrounding area, this year I am determined and planning to push Eastward.

Can anyone suggest/recommend locations East of Hood that would be go-to sites both for general R&R and hiking but, also for some awesome photo ops of this part of OR?

In advance...Thanks!
Cheers,

What do you want to take pictures of?

Desert - Painted Hills, my go to backpack is up the Deschutes River from Columbia, Catherine Creek is more treed

Badger Creek and surrounding areas like Gumjuwac Saddle are more treed

retired Jerry...

Thanks for the intel. I'll check out these sites/hikes.

I typically take photos of nature and landscapes, and images of architectural subjects in standard digital imagery and also shoot HDR, when appropriate.

When I can access a dark sky site (very rare these days in my neck of the woods), my astro-photography takes over and one can find me camped out all night imaging the sky.

Lately, I have been actively shooting infrared and working with this wonderful offshoot of the typical RGB vein.

Again, thanks for your location insights.
Cheers,
