As Brian posted the list could go on and on. Here's a couple generalized areas close by .

CRGNSA and the Mark Hatfield Wilderness: This area has just about everything other than the ocean. Whether you want waterfalls, or old growth, wild flowers, the river or panoramas of volcanoes.

Mount Hood: It always amazes me the large number of various possiblities I see posted here and elsewhere. I like to use the volcanoes as backdrop for captures.

I think the same thing could be said of many areas. There is so much variety out there and so much area, I think the joy is in discovering as much of it as you can.

For me, it's kind of weather dependent. As a general rule the last place I want to be on a bright sunny day is buried in some canyon trying to get a shot of a waterfall, river or forest thru the sun and shadows. Or high up on a view filled hike on a cloudy, or even hazy, day. Yeah, the occasional effects on days like that can be nice but I think that's the exception to the rule. At least for me.
If it's sunny, I want to be out in the open, preferably near a lake or meadow. If it's a dark gloomy day, then the forest seems an appropriate place. For an example, I really like Ramona Falls on a (lightly)rainy/snowy day.
