Re: Anyone have a Nikon D40??
Wildlife and Landscapes dictate two totally different needs. For wildlife, you'll want a Telephoto lens so you don't have to creep close to the animals and scare them off. For landscapes you want a wide angle lens so you can encompass all that you see. Nikon makes an 18-200mm VR that could serve you well in both regards, though it isn't cheap. If thats not something you can afford, you'll probably have to make concessions in either quality or range to find a lens(es) that fit your budget.
Re: Anyone have a Nikon D40??
I have a D60, which is very similar to the D40, and I my current setup consists of the kit lens -18-55mm VR ( which I use as my wide angle ) & a Nikon 70-300mm VR as well as a 50mm f 1.4. This set-up has been working for me so far. I agree though, landscape and wildlife photography are two diffent beasts and if you try and get a lens to both one or the other will likely suffer.
Hope this helps

Thanks guys. I know I am going to need two lenses. I was just interested in seeing what some of the pros on PHers are or would use.
Re: Anyone have a Nikon D40??
i use nikon d40 (upgrading to canon 40d soon though)
i just use the 18-55 kit lens
it works...
but sometimes i want to go wider and thats why im getting a wide lens for the new camera....
i would just go with one of the above suggestions
