nicely done
Re: Portable Trail Maintenance Equipment
Nice work, Mike. Not a bad idea right now for training hikes. How well does that saw carry in a backpack?
Re: Portable Trail Maintenance Equipment
Surprisingly well! The biggest hassle is having to take off the pack and open the pack an pull it out and then reversing the process. I also put it in a plastic trash compactor bag due to the chain bar oil and keeping that off the pack. It would be nice to have it in some sling that could be easily whipped off your back and into use. I have a plastic chain/bar scabbard thing for it too.

Carrying around a chainsaw in an easy access sling on the trail might get you a considerable amount of side-eye and a very wide berth when passing people....

Amazon with JUEMEL DP3 has the JUEMEL 4" Portable 20V Cordless Mini Chainsaw with 2 Batteries for $80 - 15% off coupon (check green "Save coupon" box) - $12 off with code 8H8TO6BG [Exp 6/19] = $56 with free shipping.

Short-term deal but maybe not a bad thing to have for home or light trail maintenance.

Good to keep possible covid people socially distanced from you
Re: Portable Trail Maintenance Equipment
That's tempting, but consider the noise, the exhaust fumes, having to carry more fuel...oh, wait, Mike's chainsaw is electric. More convenient for the user, but smaller intimidation factor.
Anyway, on topic, I've had the folding saw shown below for ages. It's not great, I'd get something better if I used it often.
