Rent a spotting scope?

Post by Webfoot » April 4th, 2016, 8:32 am

I have a pair of 8x25 binoculars but on a recent hike I wished that I could see a bit better.

Does anyone know where I can rent a good spotting scope at at reasonable rate?

I don't think anyone rents them, however there are decent ones to be had on Craigslist pretty often. If you want something decently reliable I'd look at an old Bushnell Spacemaster. They have been around for decades, are optically better than a lot of newer low end ones that are more expensive. A rubber coated one should be waterproof if that's important to you. I got an old Spacemaster and useless tripod on Craigslist for $50 once, $140 on eBay.

Thanks for the suggestion; I'll start looking for one of those.
