velcro strap to attach to pole, or small tripod to set on surfaces

Been using those for some time, yeah. (A photo of me using it is on their site, somewhere!) They're really nice. But not as interchangeable as you might hope. There are about six different sizes, for different brands of poles. Totally worth having along, as the longer trekking pole offers a much wider group shot than most selfie-sticks do.
