yes this guy was going to thru hike in 2008 and in 2009 based upon reports that would roll into whiteblaze (and the ensuing flame wars that would erupt (it can be a very petty forum)). Never knew what thwarted doing in in 08 or 09, but I wish this guy the best and hope this is his year! having hiked 1500 miles of it, I cannot fathom doing it blind and unassisted. i'm yet to find a trail out here as butt-kicking as the AT... the mountains out east are not higher but the trail is far rougher/tougher than 99% of the trails out here.
