Coyotes Attack and Kill Hiker in Canada

Post by Excursionista » October 28th, 2009, 10:16 pm

This is pretty frightening and sad. "Two coyotes have attacked and killed a 19-year-old folk singer in a national park in eastern Canada, officials say."

Very sad.

It makes me wonder if they were rabid. It's so unusual for coyotes to attack something as big as a human. Usually they are long gone before you get anywhere near. Very sad, indeed.

What a horrible and sad story. My heart goes out to her friends and family.

I have heard that there has been some interbreeding between coyotes and wolves in eastern Canada. I wonder if the ones involved were such. Gee, can't wait until they arrive here if that's the case!!

I wondered if they were dogs, not coyotes. They're so small. . . how could they hurt someone that badly?

Very sad and strange they are so jumpy most of the time.
I can remember visiting my uncles farm in Iowa. He was telling about coyotes breading with German Shepherds, many farmers owned them for pets.

This was about 35 years ago, he remarked how much more aggressive they were.
They called them bush wolfs. They had no problem killing them, I think they had a bounty on them at that time.
