Important: Meeting to tell Nestle don't come here

Post by janissary44 » August 31st, 2009, 5:21 pm

Nestle is holding a meeting in Cascade Locks to give an overview and to answer questions about this project.

Please attend and ask why the Oregon Water Resources Dept. is even considering selling water that belongs to the citizens of Oregon to Cascade Locks for sale to Nestle. Don't let them sell Oregon's water to Nestle.

Thanks for posting this. They've been trying to sneak this into reality without publicity. The truth is that Nestle has been trying to build a high polution, environmentally destructive plastic bottled-water plant in several settings throughout the country, but has been shut down each time by concerned local residents. I guess they're figuring that with the economy in dire straights, and residents of communities such as Cascade Locks ready to do anything at all (including inviting environmental nightmares such as this plant and a gigantic gambling casino into their midst) they might be able to finally do it.

Environmental studies have been done on what they're proposing, and communities around the country have said "NO WAY!" It's almost insulting that they think Oregonians would sell out for a few dozen jobs in the local economy. I hope the powers that be will make sure the door hits Nestle on the way out!
