If you're gonna go somewhere for a mid-October celestial event, the state parks on the Oregon Coast are a poor bet weather-wise. I'd head for Lakeview or Denio.

If it was 100% eclipse it would (arguably?) be worth going to Lakeview to see.
There's a total eclipse next spring. Going from Texas to New England. That may too far a trip for me.

I watched the 2017 total eclipse from fine vantage point (below). Since by far my favorite part was when I could go "glasses off" I don't intend to travel for this one. Nevertheless thank you for the posting.
