Fire in Bull Run Watershed

Not exactly hiking news but soon could be. There is a fire burning in the Bull Run Watershed.

Smoke plume looks significant in the latest 2:50PM satellite image.

Tonight they said it has grown to 900 acres. Not Good.

It shows updated as of yesterday but still shows 225 acres. The comments yesterday said there would be an overnight IR flight that would give a more accurate size. Probably get updated today sometime.

The fire is making for intense smoke on the north side of Mt. Hood. No hiking under those conditions! In the Upper Hood River Valley where I live, air quality has ranged from unhealthful for everyone to dangerous/top of scale in the last 24 hours. The orchard across the street isn't visible right now.

As an upper valley resident also, I can concur, it is nasty today. Visibility sucks.

The fire is still raging. good, that the firefighters are making progress

I thought the wet weather was helping but the wind changed and brought a lot of smoke to Troutdale this morning, so I guess it's still pretty bad.
