Fire crews plan to take to the air Monday to attack a wildfire on Larch Mountain in Clark County, according to the Washington Department of Natural Resources.

The Nakia Creek Fire began early Sunday evening near the border of Clark and Skamania counties, reaching 70 acres by 8 p.m. and could be seen from areas around the county.

In nearby Camas, the fire department says there’s no immediate threat to any homes, and no evacuations are planned.

With any luck, it will clear out the ugly replanted rows on SS.

The DNR just produced this trail closure map. Grouse Vista trailhead is still open. It looks like they are keeping the closure closer to Larch Mountain itself.

Here's a satellite photo taken yesterday. Chips new bear grass trail is in the upper left. You can even see the red dye used so the tanker crews can see where they dropped fire retardant.

The square you see around the fire location delineates Weyerhaeuser land.
