Oregon Coast Trail Survey

Post by quail » January 25th, 2022, 11:31 am

OPB has an article today about efforts underway to reduce trail gaps on the Oregon Coast Trail to improve access for day- and thru-hikers. This includes addressing trail sections that require walking on Hwy 101 or other roads: https://www.opb.org/article/2022/01/25/ ... ast-trail/

Here's a link to Oregon Parks and Rec's Action Plan/Open House where you can provide feedback:

Yay for trails!

Thanks for sharing!

I've been interested in the OCT for years (I like hearing the ocean and seeing giant sitka spruce trees), but have only ever done day trips, because the "gaps" would make for a really weird backpacking trip. I don't know if it's remotely possible, but a true trail the whole length of our Coast would be a national treasure.
Believe it or not, I barely ever ride a mountain bike.

While poking around in that site I learned that there are several ferry points on the OCT where you can pay fishing boats to sail you across a bay. That's cool.
