It looks like there's not too much flammable around it

Re: Bull Complex Fire
So they've wrapped Hawk Mtn but not BOTW lookout? BOTW is in much bigger danger at this point I think. As the crow flies, BOTW is within about a mile and a half of the fire - Hawk Mtn is about two and a half. It would be a shame to lose either one of those.justpeachy wrote: ↑August 25th, 2021, 12:34 pmThey've now wrapped the cabin on Hawk Mountain.

Too bad they don't care as much to preserve the Sandy guard Station.

Re: Bull Complex Fire
Maybe the Sandy Guard station was too far gone to repair
It's definitely a rotted mess now

They decided not to wrap BOTW because access is too dangerous.RobFromRedland wrote: ↑August 25th, 2021, 5:20 pmSo they've wrapped Hawk Mtn but not BOTW lookout? That is weird - they have wrapped it in the past. I hope it stays safe.justpeachy wrote: ↑August 26th, 2021, 9:02 amThey decided not to wrap BOTW because access is too dangerous.RobFromRedland wrote: ↑August 25th, 2021, 5:20 pmSo they've wrapped Hawk Mtn but not BOTW lookout? Re: Bull Complex Fire
I just checked Inciweb, and it looks like the fire has burned over the site of the Bull of the Woods Lookout and is starting down into Pansy Basin. It's also burned around both of the Twin Lakes and most of the southern half of Rhododendron Ridge. It's about 200 yards from the Hawk Mountain Lookout - hope the wrapping works!
Here's the lookout as the fire approaches:

There are a ton of photos. Later in the sequence #50+, there are some pictures labeled Bull of the Woods "post-work" and "pre-work" although I can't tell exactly what work was done around the lookout:

It's a very ambling, mosaic-like fire and it's burned into the scars of several other fires, including the 2020 Lionshead Fire at Hawk Mountain. A lot of backburning is being done from the roads. They have also wrapped the buildings at Bagby although it's still a long way away from there.
Looking at the photos, I wonder about the lungs of those crews. I know people who choke up at an AQI of 60 or so.
