I was over there last week. The missing hiker's name was Ryan and he was a soldier from Joint Base Lewis–McChord, so the military assisted in the search and rescue operations. There were Blackhawk helicopters with guns/missile attachments flying around my Dad and I the entire trip. I got a few interesting photos.
One morning a military helicopter landed in our camp, I was able to snag a video as it woke me up.

While we were hiking out we were sadly informed that Ryan was found deceased at the bottom of an icy ravine, having sustained a 200ft drop.

Sad that he died, I wonder if there are any lessons for us so we don't make the same mistake.
That must have been shocking to have a helicopter land next to you in the wilderness, and all the activity. nice video and pictures.
