Limited Entry Permits to be required for Pamelia and Obsidian areas in 2020
As in years past, Limited Entry Permits will be required for visitors to Willamette National Forest's Pamelia and Obsidian limited entry areas in 2020, since the implementation of the Central Cascades Wilderness Permits has been delayed until 2021.
Starting Monday, May 18 at 7:00 am PDT, permits will be available to reserve. Visitors can obtain a permit by visiting www.recreation.gov and searching for Pamelia Limited Entry Area and Obsidian Limited Entry Area. Although the permits are free, a $6 processing fee will be charged at checkout. Permits are required from June 15, 2020 - October 31, 2020, while in the Obsidian Limited Entry Area and from May 22, 2020 - October 31, 2020, at the Pamelia Limited Entry Area.
Next summer, the Central Cascades Wilderness Permit is anticipated to replace the limited entry permit system.

Only in the world of the Federal Government could a permit that costs six dollars be described as "free."

I agree but many commercial operations use the costly "free" pitch so the feds aren't alone. I will say that I'm extremely disappointed the feds use this language and shame on Matt for using it. It's one reason why I won't comply.oldandslow wrote: ↑May 15th, 2020, 8:14 pmOnly in the world of the Federal Government could a permit that costs six dollars be described as "free."

On the contrary I've seen plenty of this in commercial businesses, too. That's where "handling fees" originated.oldandslow wrote: ↑May 15th, 2020, 8:14 pmOnly in the world of the Federal Government could a permit that costs six dollars be described as "free."

Got on yesterday and grabbed a permit for my annual trek in the Pamelia area. Looking forward to it!
