Cunning Keith and I were there. And someone from Salem Meetup group. Maybe four written comments.
The three of us all mentioned the special use permit issue, and each of us talked about some other stuff. Respectful and friendly to the FS people.
Probably a waste of time, they'll just rubber stamp it.
They've received 1000+ comments, mostly negative.
Always good to meet oregonhikers people

It's great that they don't have one of these meetings in, oh, the largest city in the state...

Keith, does this mean we can send in written comments for the Keizer meeting? I can't make it to the Bend one due to a work conflict.cunningkeith wrote: ↑January 17th, 2020, 11:27 am

Yes, you can send written comments for any of the RAC meetings. Send them to the three coordinators:
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
I'd keep it short, reference your previous comments to the FS, that the process has been flawed, that this is not special use, and that there is widespread opposition (over 11,000 out of 12,000 comments to the FS are against).

At the Keizer LARC they held up the several written comments. A copy was given to each of the LARC members I believe. They weren't read aloud or anything. They didn't say whether they were for or against.
Definitely better to send in written comments if you can't make it there in person.
Not everyone is retired and can afford a couple hours

Re: Central Cascades permit fees announced
I corrected the date of the Keizer meeting from my previous post. It is Feb. 11.

Fees still happening, but apparently reduced.
A small silver lining for all of our "public comment".

I think I read that that you have to pay $1 for day permit, $6 for overnight
No per day fee
They are still restricting the number of people allowed each day for each trailhead
