Mapless hikers rescued by text message

Post by mrblisterdundee » June 26th, 2017, 2:21 pm

I often feel somewhat unprepared just bringing an electronic map on my phone, even for a day hike. Apparently, I'm doing better than some others:
Three hikers who got lost Saturday while hiking a section of the Pacific Crest Trail south of Whitewater trail head were rescued Sunday after authorities sent them a map in a text message, the Marion County Sheriff's Office reported.
