Hiker Dead on Angels Rest Trail

Post by UTurn » August 26th, 2016, 1:10 pm

I've hiked this trail many, many times and I'm trying to figure out where the danger is a 1/2 mile up the trail? Regardless, I'm sad for the family who now goes on without a member of their family, and also for others nearby who saw this happen.

yeah, 1/2 mile up the trail is that boulder field, but not really a cliff

further up is the cliff over the waterfall, maybe that's what they're talking about

Coopy Falls...

This is a well known off trail waterfall that waterfall hunters seek, its just off the trail but in steep terrain about a 1/2 mile up that trail.
lightweight, cheap, strong... pick 2

Upper Coopey yes, we had 3 simultaneous searches going yesterday, that was just one of them. Happy endings for the other two at least :(
