Amazing that someone would set his rifle against a tree and it would just sit there for 100+ years.

I wonder what happened to him?

That's a cool story. It would be fun to find out the history of the rifle, and also find out who the last owner was.

Viking, can you explain how you can estimate the tree's possible age? It's a skill I lack, so I am both envious and curious about all aspects of the matter.

I agree, good point, that tree doesn't look 132+ years old, although those Bristlecone trees that are much older also don't look as old as they are.

Then that's even more of a mystery. Someone could have picked it up off the ground and set it against the tree somewhat recently?
