Cascadia Wild's
Wolverine Tracking Project

Spend your days snowshoeing in the winter woods.  Learn how to read the tracks animals have left in the snow.  Carry out surveys for rare carnivores that the Forest Service can use when planning their management activities.  Join Cascadia Wild for the Wolverine Tracking Project.

The Wolverine Tracking project provides a space where trackers of all skill levels can come together to strengthen their skills, while helping steward our National Forest by monitoring rare carnivores. Kids are welcome, and no experience is necessary.

New participants attend one set of classroom and field trainings, in order ensure that everyone has a solid background in animal tracking, knows how to dress properly for the snow, and knows what to expect when doing the surveys. Surveys are done in groups of up to 10 people, including two experienced trip leaders.

Trainings:
Classroom Sessions: 7 to 9 pm
Thursday October 21st
Wednesday November 3rd
Tuesday November 16th
Wednesday December 1st

Field Sessions: 9 am to 12 noon
Saturday October 23rd
Saturday November 6th
Saturday November 20th
Saturday December 4th

Surveys: December through March. Sign up for as many or as few survey trips as you like.

Cost is $50 for new participants. Family discounts are available.

If you don't want to commit to being a part of the entire project, classroom sessions may be taken as a stand-alone class for $40, and will provide you with very good introduction to the art and science of animal tracking.
