Olympic National Park Backpack
Moderate/20-27 miles/3,200ft minimum gain
Ancient forest, mountain scenery and hungry bears come together to make gentle adventures for hikers visiting the Staircase area of Olympic National Park. This easygoing backpack to Flapjack Lakes starts along the North Fork Skokomish River and features two nights of basecamping with a day of alpine exploration. Requires previous backpacking experience and current conditioning. Participants carpool from Portland Thursday PM and camp near the trailhead for a Friday AM departure. Return to Portland late Sunday. Group size limit eight. Reservations required by July 27.
