Greetings, while keeping an eye on COVID-19 developments, Friends of Road 4109 is announcing a brushout day on the road to Silver Star Mountain trailhead. Last year's events went swimmingly. So we are looking forward to another good road working season. The goal will be to brushout the entire 2.3 miles of road from the junction with DNR road 1100 to the trailhead. This will make it easier for anyone who works on the road surface in the future. And it will improve visibility for any drivers that are still using the road. The schedule is:
9:30 AM Mandatory Safety Briefing
10:00-Noon Brushout work
Noon-12:30 PM Lunch
12:30-3:30 PM Brushout Work
I will keep updating this post at the date approaches. Also, we have finished the artwork for a crowd-funding campaign. So I will let you all know when that goes live.
EDIT: Since volunteer events are still shutdown due to Coronavirus, we are encouraging people to use firewood permits to collect firewood off the road.

Hell, the way things are going, maybe he meant 2021.

Heh, my bad. I did mean 2020. But, yeah, if outdoor activities on sun-drenched days are banned...
On a happier note, could any of you see yourselves wearing a t-shirt like this one?

Well, the Forest Service still hasn't opened up to volunteer events. But there still is a way that people can clean up woody debris from the road. We can use firewood permits to remove woody debris from the road. So we are encouraging people to do that. On Saturday June 27th I will be up there with shovels and fire extinguishers to help anyone who wants to fill their permit.

Thanks, Webfoot. I just received my firewood permit last week. So I will get up there sometime soon.
