This is a 2-day work party! Come for one or both days. Overnight campsites will be available.

Overview:

McIver State Park, located on the Clackamas River between Oregon City and Estacada, is a 950-acre park with camping, boating, hiking and horseback riding opportunities for its visitors. There are over 14 miles of trails for hikers and horseback riders in the park.

Project description:

TKO volunteers have been working on the Maple Ridge Trail, a very popular hiking trail within the park. The soil on this 2-mile trail is mostly clay, and drainage is poor. We have done berm removal and drainage improvements on most of the trail. We have done two reroutes to improve the trail. A third reroute of about 400’ will bring the trail up above an area that is covered by inches of water in mid-winter. We will work on this route during the January work parties.

Hiking information:

Hike to the work site will be up to a mile on gently uphill terrain, with some stairs.

What to expect:

You should expect to work on an undeveloped section of trail, first clearing the vegetation and duff and later creating the tread surface of the trail.

What to bring:

Bring your lunch and plenty of water. Also bring good work gloves and supportive boots. If you choose to camp with us, please indicate on your registration and our Crew Leader will be in touch with further details.

What to wear:

Boots (tennis shoes are not allowed)
Long sleeved shirts recommended
Rain gear as appropriate for the weather
Eye protection is recommended (eye glasses, safety glasses, etc.)
TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses
