Hello hikers!
Trailkeepers of Oregon, the group that owns and operates this website and does lots of work on local hiking trails, is starting a monthly series of fun, educational, and community-building hikes. The first one is just a couple weeks out -- details below. We hope you will join us!
TKO’s First Community Hike — Eagle Creek National Recreation Trail
Wednesday, May 17, 9 a.m.
Spring is always a beautiful time at Eagle Creek, but on this first-ever Trailkeepers of Oregon hike we will bring another level to the experience. As a trail building and maintenance organization, we want to show you a side of Eagle Creek you probably don’t know about: the amazing history and ongoing challenges associated with this iconic Gorge trail. When, how and why was it built, and by whom? What has been its history over the years? What challenges does it face today? What can we do to help protect it?
Join TKO Board member, and author of 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles of Portland, Paul Gerald for this fun, educational, and beautiful hike. We will go 6-8 miles roundtrip, depending on the weather and how we are feeling. PM Paul (OneSpeed) here on the site for information on where to meet and other details. Group size is limited to 12. We will do our best to help with carpools and otherwise accommodate our non-driving friends.
Cost: Suggested gas donation of $5 to your driver and $10 to Trailkeepers of Oregon. Neither is required.
