Post by Ryan Ojerio » March 25th, 2017, 2:57 pm

Hi Hikers,

WTA and the Mount St. Helens Institute have combined resources to host a series of trailwork events on the Monument this summer. Save the date for adventure and volunteer stewardship. You can meet some cool people, earn a NW Forest Pass and have a lot of fun.

These multi-day trips are open for registration now. See https://www.wta.org/volunteer/schedule

Multi-Day Trips:
  • Loowit Trail BCRT 4 days starting 8/17 - West Side - Brushing and tread repair from the crossing at the South Fork of the Toutle northward towards the blast zone.

Coldwater Trail at Ridge Camp BCRT - 4 Days starting on 7/13 - Camping at Ridge Camp and working on brushing and tread towards Coldwater Peak.

Boundary Trail at Bear Camp BCRT - 4 days starting 7/20 - camping in the Mount Margaret Backcountry and working on tread and brushing from Bear camp east towards Coldwater Peak

Boundary Trail at Coldwater Peak BCRT 4 days starting 7/27 - camping near Coldwater Peak and working east to restore tread and brush back vegetation

Volunteer Vacations

  • We also have two volunteer vacations where participants will be hiking in to the east end of Coldwater Lake to work on the Lakes Trail. Their gear and tools will arrive by boat. Dates are July 8 and 15 for Youth and Adult, respectively.

These trips will be posted 6 weeks in advance. Save the date now!
