Oneonta Trail #424, Columbia Gorge
Tuesday, June 28, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Oneonta Trail is one of a series of trails accessible from the Larch Mountain area and continuing on to various areas in the Columbia Gorge.

Project description
This work party will be devoted to brushing back annual vegetation, primarily Devil’s Club, thimbleberry, Oregon Grape and vine maple. There is reportedly no poison oak in the area.

Hiking information
The hike to the area most in need of brushing is approximately 3 miles each way (6 miles round trip) to the farthest area that needs brushing. The elevation change is approximately 1250’.

What to expect
No experience is necessary. You will be working with experienced crew leaders to remove vegetation that impedes hikers. The ranger’s goal is to keep maintenance to an annual or semi-annual basis on these trails. You should be prepared to hike on terrain that is uneven and sometimes steep while carrying your day pack and work tools.

What to bring
Lunch and plenty of water.
Rain gear (jacket and pants) if appropriate for weather forecast
Work gloves
Extra set of clothes to change into at the end of the day (optional)

What to wear
Boots (tennis shoes are not allowed
Long sleeve shirt recommended
Eye protection recommended (glasses, sunglasses or safety glasses).
TKO will supply hard hats, and safety glasses if needed.
